Extra police personnel have been deployed across the city of Durban ahead of the June 30 national protest
Law enforcement officials have increased their presence across parts of Durban as the city prepares for Tuesday’s planned anti-illegal immigration march.
The demonstrations, led by groups including the March and March movement, are calling for stricter action against undocumented foreign nationals.
Government has stressed that peaceful protest is a constitutional right, but any violence or targeting of foreign nationals will not be tolerated.
In the Durban CBD, patrol vehicles move through busy intersections and commercial streets, with officers monitoring public spaces and maintaining a visible presence in key areas.
