Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated on Sunday that Russia will continue to pursue its main goal—the complete capture of four Ukrainian regions—and that Ukrainian long-range strikes against Russia allegedly have no impact whatsoever on the situation at the front.

This was reported by Reuters, according to Ukrinform.

In an interview with Russian state television, Putin noted that Ukraine had allegedly proposed to Russia a mutual cessation of long-range strikes as a step toward peace. However, Moscow views this as an attempt to ease pressure on the Ukrainian Defense Forces and has no intention of being distracted by it.

Commenting on Ukrainian long-range attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, the Kremlin leader said that these “aimed at diverting our attention and forces from achieving the main objectives – the complete liberation of Donbas and Novorossiya,” referring to the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions of Ukraine.

Putin described Russian attacks on Ukraine as “more effective and more destructive.”
