Photo by Screenshot/XIn an unprecedented spate of violence targeting Canadian police, the last two weeks have seen the deaths of three officers — two in Ontario and one in Montreal — killed in the line of duty. Additionally, in that same span, two others were shot and wounded earlier last week. In this interview, Rob Breakenridge speaks with Canadian Police Association President Tom Stamatakis about the impact of these tragic deaths and the disturbing trends in public safety that have increased the danger these officers are facing. In particular, Stamatakis points to heightened concern around repeat violent offenders and increased gun violence linked to organized crime and extortion.
