The Armoor police on Monday (June 29, 2026) arrested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Armoor Town president Mandula Balu in connection with the recent confrontation at Bharat Chandra High School, also known as Bhavishya Darshini School, in Perkit village of Armoor mandal, Nizamabad, where tensions erupted over the alleged unauthorised teaching of Urdu to primary school students.Mandula Balu was named as the prime accused in one of the two FIRs registered after he and his supporters allegedly entered the school premises on Saturday and confronted the management over the issue. During the altercation, the school’s principal was allegedly assaulted in the presence of police personnel.The dispute began after allegations surfaced that a recently appointed Hindi teacher had been teaching Urdu to students of Classes I to V instead of limiting lessons to the prescribed Hindi syllabus. Following directions from district authorities, a joint inquiry by Revenue, Education and Police officials reportedly found that Urdu had been taught during Hindi classes.According to the police, several students confirmed that Urdu lessons were conducted during Hindi periods. The inquiry also found that Urdu notes written in students’ notebooks were allegedly torn out by the school management after objections were raised by parents.Based on the findings, the police registered a case against Mandula Balu and his associates under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to trespass, voluntarily causing hurt, grievous hurt and mischief. A second case was registered against the school correspondent Mallaiah, principal Ameer Khan and teacher Huma Hania under Section 196(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups and acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony.The police said further investigation is underway.
