Chris Coons (D-DE) was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Sussex County, Delaware, on Sunday afternoon, sending him to a local hospital to be treated for injuries, the senator announced in a social media post on Sunday evening. Coons, 62, was taken to Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Delaware, for treatment. He was later released and announced that he was expected to “make a full and swift recovery.”

“Earlier today, a Delaware driver experienced a medical incident and collided with several cars, including one in which I was a passenger,” Coons said in the post. “I was transported to Beebe Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
