Lithuania’s Court of Appeal on Monday began hearing the criminal case against former shareholders of the collapsed Snoras bank, Vladimiras Antonovas and Raimondas Baranauskas.

Antonovas, who was extradited from France to Lithuania in late May, was brought to the hearing.

Prosecutors say Baranauskas is believed to be in Russia, where he has been hiding for approximately 15 years, and that his extradition has not been executed.

Last year, the Vilnius Regional Court sentenced both former shareholders to 10.5 years in prison in absentia for various financial crimes, including embezzlement, misappropriation of assets, forgery, and fraudulent bankruptcy.

They were also ordered to pay more than 375 million euros in damages and forfeit 105 million euros in assets.
