Car production in ​Thailand dropped by ‌17.94% in May from a year earlier to 114,214 units, the Federation of Thai ​Industries ⁠said on Monday.The decrease followed an annual dip ‌of 0.44% in April.

Domestic sales rose by 10.60% to ⁠57,765 cars, boosted by sales of electric vehicles.

In the first five months of the year, production ​dropped by 1.13% from a year earlier to 587,759 ​vehicles, ‌the federation said.

Thailand is Southeast Asia's biggest auto ​production centre. ⁠It is an export base for ⁠some of the world's top carmakers, including Toyota and Honda.
