The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it ended its engineering analysis into about 376,241 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles from the 2023 model year. The move comes after Tesla issued a recall related to a failure of the power-steering assist feature.

Meanwhile, TSLA shares rose 1.22% on Friday, closing at $379.71.

Tesla Recall Helped End the Probe

NHTSA first opened a preliminary review in July 2023 after some Tesla owners reported losing steering control or needing more effort to turn the wheel. The probe was later upgraded to an engineering analysis in early 2024.

Tesla recalled about 376,000 vehicles in the U.S. in early 2025. The issue could make the vehicles harder to steer, especially at low speeds, which could raise the risk of a crash.
