A free kick by Stephen Eustaquio from outside the box in the 92nd minute found its way into Bafana’s net and sent the crowd in Los Angeles into a frenzy.
The match was open and full of scoring opportunities, which went unconverted due to the forwards’ nervousness.
With South Africa eliminated from the competition, the Canadians await their next opponent in the Round of 16, which will be decided on July 6 between the winner of the match between Morocco and the Netherlands at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico.
