The association warned that hospital authorities that continue to deny doctors their rights would be held responsible for any industrial unrest.
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a fresh 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government and defaulting state governments to settle outstanding salaries, allowances and welfare entitlements of their members.
The association warned that hospital authorities that continue to deny doctors their rights would be held responsible for any industrial unrest.
The ultimatum was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Extraordinary National Executive Council (E-NEC) meeting of the association held virtually on Saturday, June 27, 2026, following the expiration of the 21-day window earlier granted to the Federal Government at its May 2026 Ordinary General Meeting to address the welfare and professional concerns of resident doctors nationwide.
The communiqué, signed by the association's leadership, said the council reviewed reports from the National Officers' Committee on engagements with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), assessed the level of implementation of previous agreements, and deliberated on emerging issues affecting resident doctors across the country.
