Veteran actor and director K. Bhagyaraj was given a tearful farewell as he was cremated with full state honours on Sunday.The 73-year-old legendary screenwriter passed away on Saturday following a heart attack.On Sunday morning, his mortal remains were taken in a vehicle that bore his photograph and a writing pad that carried the words: ‘With love, yours, K. Bhagyaraj’. Many gathered to bid farewell to him as the funeral procession passed through various roads to the crematorium.Full state honours were accorded after which the cremation took place at Besant Nagar.Water Resources and Rural Development Minister N. Anand and Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, and Information and Publicity Rajmohan were present when the last rites were performed.Since Saturday, several political leaders and celebrities have paid their respects to his mortal remains. Many, including Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay; DMK president M.K. Stalin; actor-politician Kamal Hassan; and actors Rajinikanth, Mammootty, and Sivakumar paid their respects in person.
