Two students drowned after venturing into a deep quarry pond while bathing with friends at Kodithottam near Erumely in Kottayam on Sunday.The deceased were identified as Ashlin, 19, an automobile engineering student, and Asher, 16, a Plus One student, both natives of Kodithottam near here.According to police, the two were part of a five member group that had gone to the abandoned quarry pond for a swim. They reportedly slipped into a deep section of the water and disappeared.A search operation launched by local residents with the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Services led to the recovery of their bodies.The bodies have been shifted for a post-mortem examination.
