In a Facebook post, Succot said the purpose of his visit was to ensure that not "a single shekel of state funding" would go to schools that invite terrorist organizations to lecture students.Accompanied by bodyguards, Succot spoke at the entrance the Al-Tasamuh middle school, whose gates remained locked. "This school has hosted terrorist organizations and inciters, including Raed Salah, who left house arrest specifically to give a lesson to students here," the parliamentarian said. "To the residents of Umm al-Fahm I say: I am not your enemy, but I am also not afraid of you. Not a single shekel from the state treasury will go to a school like this."Education Ministry official Shirin Natour Hafi told Succot that the ministry had prepared a portfolio with data on the school, noting that it has been on vacation since June 18, making it impossible to bring in the school principal at this time. The city's parents' committee said it would shut all educational institutions, including special education programs, citing safety concerns and tensions, calling the visit a "provocative step" and an attempt to politicize schools.Hadash party head Yousef Jabarin, a city resident, called Succot "an inciter and racist," saying residents would oppose what he described as hate speech.Earlier this month, Succot was filmed attempting to break into a school in Tuba Zangariyye, a Bedouin village in the Upper Galilee, using a disc saw to cut through a fence.
