Two Samoan men were arrested in Australia's record seizure of 2.7 tonnes of cocaine worth more than AU$816 million over a week ago.

Andrew Whata Fepuleai, 21, of Plumpton and Kristian Faiumu, 25, of Liverpool, have been charged with possessing a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border-controlled drug. Both now face the possibility of life imprisonment if convicted.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) discovered the drugs in Londonderry. The drugs were hidden in underground bunkers concealed by false floors within three shipping containers near the rear of the property.

It is the largest cocaine seizure in Australia and would have equated to about three million street-level deals.

The two appeared before a NSW Local Court last week and were remanded in custody, with both due to front court again in August.
