A former Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adeleye, has hailed the state’s judiciary for reaffirming its commitment to justice with the conviction and life sentence handed to a man for raping a minor.

Adeleye said the judgment demonstrated the judiciary’s crucial role in the fight against gender-based violence and restored confidence in the justice system for survivors and their families.

In a statement made available on Saturday, the All Progressives Congress Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency candidate described the verdict as “a strong reminder that the courts remain a safe haven for victims seeking justice.”

She said, “The judgment is a reassuring demonstration that the courts remain the ultimate sanctuary for victims seeking redress and a critical pillar in the protection of vulnerable members of society.
