Haliburton’s injury update brought encouraging news for the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. The franchise point guard said he feels fully healthy more than a year after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. Speaking while hosting his annual youth basketball camp in Indianapolis, Haliburton expressed confidence that he will be ready for the start of the 2026-27 NBA season after missing all of last year during his recovery.Indiana reached the NBA Finals behind its All-Star guard before his devastating injury against the Oklahoma City Thunder ended both his season and the team's championship hopes. Now, with more than three months remaining before training camp, Haliburton believes he is approaching full basketball condition.Tyrese Haliburton gives a major recovery update after Achilles rehabilitation Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers (Image via Getty)Haliburton did not hold back when describing where he stands physically after spending the past year recovering from one of basketball's most difficult injuries."My body feels great," Haliburton said. "I feel great moving. I feel great playing. My body just feels great in all honesty. I've never felt this strong. I still gotta get in a little bit of shape but I feel great."It's exciting and it's only what, the end of June here. I still have three more months. I feel like I'm in good shape, NBA shape, but there's a difference between NBA shape and Tyrese Haliburton shape. I'll get there."Haliburton's absence defined Indiana's 2025-26 campaign. After leading the Pacers to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000, he watched from the sidelines while completing a lengthy rehabilitation program following the Achilles rupture that occurred during the deciding game of the championship series. The guard said the recovery process also included overcoming another unexpected health challenge. A bout with shingles earlier this year affected his appearance and temporarily forced him to gain weight."I look back at videos of me and I can see how swollen my face is," Haliburton said. "I'm glad that's beyond me and past me now. I feel great. My body feels great. I'm able to do everything."I feel like I'm operating like I'm a healthy NBA player for the first time in a long time, which is exciting. The fact that I'm able to come here without having to answer questions from anybody in our organization about my health, that I'm just able to jump in and do some things with the kids, that means the world to me. It's something I don't take for granted after the last 12 months."Haliburton's recovery gives Indiana Pacers reason for optimism entering next season Indiana Pacers’ coach Rick Carlisle drops crucial injury update on key player Tyrese Haliburton (Image Source: Getty)Saturday's appearance came during Haliburton's annual basketball camp, where more than 300 children in grades one through eight participated in skill stations alongside several members of the Pacers organization. Forward Obi Toppin, guard Taelon Peter, newly drafted Braden Smith, and general manager Chad Buchanan all joined the event, underscoring the franchise's support for one of its cornerstone community initiatives. With training camp still months away, Indiana does not need to rush its franchise point guard. Haliburton's latest update instead shifts attention toward how quickly he can rediscover his All-NBA form once competitive games return. If his recovery continues on its current path, the Pacers could enter the 2026-27 season with the player who led them to the brink of a championship finally back on the floor.
