New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday said that a key accused in 2025 Red Fort blast, Muzafar Ahmed, a paediatrician (MBBS, MD), has been identified as the key architect, along with co-accused Umer, Muzammil, Adeel, and Mufti Irfan, of the conspiracy that led to the deadly Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast on November 10, 2025.Muzafar is also the elder brother of co-accused Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather and a founding member of "AGuH Interim", an offshoot of Al-Qaeda. NIA's probe has revealed that Muzafar, one of the founding members of AGuH Interim, had attended a secret meeting at Eidgah in Srinagar in June 2022, during which the terror module AGuH Interim was established.Also Read: Red Fort blast charge sheet reveals use of TATP explosive, ‘Operation Heavenly Hind’ plotBesides Muzafar, the supplementary charge sheet, filed by the NIA, names Zameer Ahmad Ahanger and Tufail Ahmad Bhat, both from Jammu and Kashmir. With the latest charge sheet, the total number of accused in the case has risen to 13, including the prime accused, Dr Umer Un Nabi (deceased).According to NIA, Muzafar was deeply involved in the manufacture, testing and safekeeping of Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP)-based IEDs at a clandestine facility run by Umer and Muzammil at Al-Falah University in Faridabad. A non-bailable warrant has been issued against Muzafar, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him. TATP has been used in several terrorist attacks as explosive filling of IEDs outside India. The NIA said Zameer, an Overground Worker of AGuH Interim, was actively in touch with handlers and acted as a courier for arms, ammunition and cash for the terror module.Tufail, a former OGW of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), served as the module's arms supplier. He had procured one AK-47 rifle, a Krinkov rifle, a pistol, magazines and live ammunition through dead drops orchestrated by a handler, and delivering them to Dr Umer Un Nabi, for ₹3 lakh.Also Read: Delhi Red Fort blast: NIA chargesheet reveals abuse of AI platform for 'terror engineering'In the supplementary charge sheet filed before the NIA Special Court, Patiala House Court, New Delhi, Zameer and Tufail have been charged under sections of the UAPA and Sections 61(2), 147, 148 and 152 of BNS. Muzafar has been additionally charged under Sections 61(2) read with 103(1), 109(1), 118(1) and 118(2) of the BNS, sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.The NIA, which established the linkages among the various accused through multidisciplinary scientific investigation, including forensic analysis, geo-location mapping of conspiracy sites and detailed financial trail analysis, is continuing its probe in the case. NIA names doctor as key conspirator in Red Fort blast
NIA has identified paediatrician Muzafar Ahmed as the mastermind behind the 2025 Red Fort blast, a deadly Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device attack. Ahmed, a founding member of Al-Qaeda offshoot 'AGuH Interim', allegedly helped manufacture and test explosives. The agency has filed a supplementary charge sheet, bringing the total accused to 13, and is actively searching for Ahmed. The blast tragically claimed 11 lives.
