Welcome to the Jungle has begun its box office journey on a positive note. Despite receiving mixed reviews from audiences and critics, the comedy entertainer has registered a stronger opening than Akshay Kumar's recent releases Bhooth Bangla and Jolly LLB 3. While the film's Day 1 collections have grabbed attention, another topic has become a talking point among fans—the massive scale of its production. With 34 actors sharing screen space, dozens of vanity vans and hundreds of people working on set every day, director Ahmed Khan has now revealed what it really took to bring the film to life. Akshay Kumar has also addressed reports about the fee he charged for the project.Ahmed Khan on Welcome to the Jungle budget and massive scaleIn an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ahmed Khan confirmed that Welcome to the Jungle features 34 actors, with nearly 30 of them being established names from the film industry. The cast includes stars such as Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, Kiran Kumar and several others.The filmmaker admitted that coordinating such a large cast was one of the biggest challenges of his career. To stay organised, he asked his team to put up a large chart board in his office with photographs of every actor. According to the filmmaker, seeing everyone's faces in front of him every day helped him keep track of the huge ensemble and plan the shoot efficiently.However, he explained, "But here is the real math: beyond the core cast, you have their entourages, usually about five people per star. So, if you calculate 30 actors plus their immediate teams, you are looking at 150 people just on the actors' side. Then, you have our main crew of 200 people. On top of that, you have the stunt teams and action fighters, horsemen, and an additional 150 to 200 background actors. On certain days, we also had large dance troupes. So on some days, I was managing anywhere between 700 to 900 people on set."You Might Also Like:Khan said the logistics often felt more difficult than the creative process of directing the film. He explained that the production needed two large adjacent grounds instead of one because there was simply not enough space. Around 50 vanity vans had to be parked, along with separate holding areas for junior artists and cabins for the production team.The transport arrangements were equally demanding. Between actors, technicians, makeup artists, hairstylists and other crew members, nearly 200 to 250 cars reached the set every day. Khan compared the experience to organising a large-scale music concert on a daily basis rather than a regular film shoot. According to him, handling the logistics of such a huge production was even more challenging than directing 34 actors on screen.Akshay Kumar clears the air on his feeAlongside discussions about the film's budget, speculation also surrounded Akshay Kumar's remuneration. Reports had claimed that the actor charged Rs 1.7 crore for Welcome to the Jungle. However, Akshay dismissed those reports during the film's trailer launch.Responding to questions about his fee, the actor said, as reported by India Today, "Maine utna bhi nahi liya hai. He said the story was written by late filmmaker and writer Neeraj Vora, making the film special from the beginning. Calling Vora one of his biggest mentors, the actor shared that he had learned a great deal about comedy from three filmmakers, Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santoshi and Neeraj Vora.He added that the film's story was created by Neeraj Vora along with producer Firoz Nadiadwala, whom he has known for more than three decades. Akshay recalled visiting Nadiadwala during his struggling years and said his long association with both men made the project even more meaningful.Unlike the earlier Welcome films, which were largely set in urban locations, Welcome to the Jungle shifts the story to a jungle backdrop. The film marks Akshay Kumar's return to the franchise after missing the second instalment.
