The party said although it was awaiting the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgement, it was deeply concerned about what it described as the far-reaching implications of the court order.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the Federal High Court's order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the National Democratic Party (NDC), describing the decision as a major setback for democracy and an attack on Nigeria's multiparty political system.

In a statement issued on Friday by its Interim National Working Committee through the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP said it had taken note of media reports on the judgement delivered by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The party said although it was awaiting the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgement, it was deeply concerned about what it described as the far-reaching implications of the court order.

According to the PDP, the ruling further narrows Nigeria's democratic space, particularly at a time when many Nigerians had invested their resources to contest elective offices under the platform of the NDC.
