U.S. Vice President JD Vance announced that Washington and Tehran reached an agreement during recent negotiations in Switzerland to establish a coordination channel aimed at preventing the escalation of tensions.

According to him, this mechanism will operate in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of representatives from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

Speaking to a British media outlet, Vance stated that the objective of this channel is to manage disputes and de-escalate tensions between the two countries. He further added that this agreement was part of the recent negotiations, alongside understandings reached on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and stabilizing the ceasefire in Lebanon.
