The Nigerian Government has announced the successfully release of six citizens who had been detained by the authorities of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire since October 2025 over alleged economic crimes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which announced the development in a statement on Friday, indicated that the release followed sustained diplomatic and consular engagements undertaken by the Nigerian Embassy in Abidjan with the Ivorian government.
According to official communications received from the embassy, four of the detained Nigerians were released on Monday, June 22, 2026, while the remaining two regained their freedom on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
