The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 is a Bluetooth tracker for Samsung phone owners, with a built-in metal loop for clipping onto keys, bags, or pet collars. The tracker pairs with the SmartThings Find network through your Galaxy phone, which has over 400 million registered devices that can ping the tag’s location when it’s out of Bluetooth range. The SmartTag2 also has Ultra-Wideband (UWB) for precise indoor tracking with arrows guiding you to within a few feet of the tag.

A tracker that can help you easily find all of your missing items

Compatibility is the first thing to know about the SmartTag2: it only works with Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 11 or later, so iPhone or non-Samsung Android users should skip this one. For Galaxy owners, the tag pairs through the SmartThings Find app on your phone, which integrates directly into the system rather than running as a separate service. The Bluetooth range hits about 120 meters (around 400 feet) in open spaces, with the SmartThings Find network filling in the gap when the tag is out of direct Bluetooth range.

Battery life runs up to 500 days on a single CR2032 coin cell in Normal Mode, or up to 700 days in Power Saving Mode. That’s around two years between battery swaps. The CR2032 is replaceable, with a coin slot on the back of the tag for prying it open. Plus, an IP67 rating protects against rain, splashes, and accidental drops into puddles, so the tag survives being clipped to your backpack or a dog collar in bad weather.
