He further claimed that the police commissioner had lost the confidence of many residents across the state.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the state's Commissioner of Police of lacking the capacity and willingness to carry out his duties impartially, calling on the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to immediately redeploy him ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

According to a statement issued by the Osun government and signed by governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Friday, Adeleke made the demand while receiving a delegation sent by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to assess the security situation in the state following recent incidents of political violence.

The governor alleged that the Commissioner of Police had failed to act fairly in the discharge of his responsibilities, insisting that the police command required urgent restructuring to restore public confidence and guarantee credible elections.

"The Commissioner of Police has demonstrated lack of willingness and capacity to act fairly and without partisan bias,” Adeleke said.
