Just one month after Ferrari unveiled its controversial electric car, the company’s marketing boss has quit.

Enrico Galliera’s departure after 16 years at the world’s most famous supercar brand has been confirmed this week, after the Maranello firm endured an intense public backlash to the debut of its Luce EV.

Galliera will depart his role as chief marketing and commercial officer with immediate effect and will be replaced by former BMW Italy boss Massimiliano Di Silvestre on 1 July.

Ferrari says Galliera has ‘decided to embark on a new chapter in his professional journey’, claiming his decision to leave was shared with the company ‘some time ago’.

CEO Benedetto Vigna also played down the marketing boss’s departure being linked to the response to the Luce launch: ‘I would like to thank Enrico for the extraordinary contribution he has made to Ferrari throughout his long career,’ he said.
