Greece returned six ancient Egyptian figurines to Egypt following an artefact trafficking investigation involving Greek, Egyptian authorities and Interpol.

Four of the six figurines were confirmed as genuine ancient artefacts, while two were identified as forgeries, yet all were returned.

An inscription reading "Arab el Madfuna" on one figurine helped link the objects to the ancient Egyptian city of Abydos.

The return was carried out in accordance with the 1970 Unesco Convention, which governs the illicit transfer of cultural property between nations.
