TVTV NewsCarol KirkwoodFormer BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood addressed her health as she appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain10:00, 26 Jun 2026Carol Kirkwood has admitted she was left "disappointed" after a recent health assessment.‌The former weather presenter, 64, has been enjoying a change of pace after leaving the BBC following 28 years with the corporation, and has been travelling with husband Steve.‌Appearing on Good Morning Britain, she shared that she recently had some health assessments as she is determined to remain healthy as she ages. Carol revealed to hosts Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh that while she was mainly pleased with the results, her fitness level came out as "average".‌She explained: "I did recently a group of mature health assessments. Now, the reason I did that was because, for me, the best is yet to come. I want to live life well into old age. I want to be healthy. I want to do all the things that we have planned. Travel is a big one."And I decided that it's probably a good idea to check out my health now rather than wait until something goes wrong. And I'm so glad I did because it was really reassuring.‌"You know, I thought my cholesterol was going to be horrific because my body is full of chocolates. This is not a temple. But my cholesterol was fine."And I thought that my fitness would be really quite good... I walked tons and exercised. But it was just average. So I was really disappointed.""It shows you have to look at life differently, don't you?" said Kate. "That's right," replied Carol. "And there are some good stats from research which shows that 41% of us think that life is going to be good as we age. So we're all looking forward to being healthy, active, independent, that's a big one as well.‌"But only 12% of us would think of even having one of these health assessments when we find something was wrong. So prevention for me is much better than cure."Opening up about much things have changed since she left the BBC, Carol said: "I used to stay awake all day and go to bed between 7pm and 8pm, so that has changed. And now having an evening, we can go out and do things.Article continues below"But the nice thing that really has changed is that Steve and I saw each other for about four hours a week between Sunday and Thursday. So now we've got our evening. And it's really nice."Good Morning Britain airs on ITV from 6amChoose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌ITVCarol KirkwoodGood Morning Britain
