The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) released a report on its X account, stating that a cargo ship near Oman was struck on its starboard side by an unidentified object on Thursday, June 25.
According to the report, no injuries or environmental pollution have been reported. However, the organization has advised vessels to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
The report came just an hour after Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, wrote on X that, following the Muscat joint statement, he had emphasized the continuation of consultations between Tehran and Muscat to determine a framework for the future management of maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz during a conversation with Badr Albusaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman.
He further added, “This process will be pursued through dialogue with neighboring countries.”
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal has reported that Tehran intends to generate billions of dollars in revenue from the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by charging fees.
