Police claimed they remained in regular contact over several months and allegedly discussed plans to kill Ketan.Police suspect Siya wanted more time for herself and was unwilling to proceed with the marriage despite pressure from her family. Investigators also claimed that although she had grown close to Chetan, she was not prepared to marry him either and allegedly wanted to continue the relationship while eliminating Ketan.Investigators detail planningAccording to the investigation, Ketan and Siya visited Lohagad Fort on May 31, when Siya allegedly first considered killing him after seeing him sitting near the edge of the fort.Police further suspect an earlier attempt was made on June 14, when Siya allegedly tried to push Ketan from the fort. After the alleged attempt failed, she reportedly shouted that she had spotted a snake and later claimed the push had been accidental.Investigators said the couple eventually decided against eloping because they believed it would bring disrepute to their families.A police official involved in the probe said Siya initially admitted to hatching the conspiracy after both accused first attempted to shift the blame onto each other during questioning.According to the official, the alleged plan involved Siya giving a pre-decided signal by sitting down, after which Chetan would approach and push an unsuspecting Ketan into the gorge. The official claimed the plan was carried out as intended and that Ketan had no idea what was about to happen before he was allegedly pushed from Lohagad Fort on June 18.Victim's family seeks justiceKetan Agarwal's uncle, Vijay Agarwal, said the family wanted justice and expressed faith in the country's legal system. He said Ketan, who was well educated, had agreed to an arranged marriage at his parents' request and was later killed.
