The trailer of Sense and Sensibility, an upcoming film adaption of Jane Austen’s classic debut novel was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (June 25, 2026). Directed by Georgia Oakley, the film also stars Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw in pivotal roles.The trailer gives a sweeping look into the historical-drama, telling the story of Elinor Dashwood, one of the three sisters who are leave their family estate with their widowed mother and relocate to a cottage in the countryside. At their new home, the sisters experience the first tremors of love and the film explores longing, female desires and sisterhood in the early 18th century England.Sense and Sensibility will be released in theatres on October 16.The romance novel has seen multiple adaptations in the past, the most well-known being the 1995 film directed by Ang Lee and featuring Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Kate Winslet. The studio behind the upcoming adaption, Focus Features, earlier backed the film adaption of Austen’s novel, Pride & Prejudice (2005), which was nominated for four Academy Awards.Daisy Edgar-Jones is known for her roles in films like Normal People (2020) and Twisters (2024).
