A total 79 migrants reached the southern island of Crete in small boats from Libya Thursday, authorities said, following the eastern Mediterranean Sea route that currently accounts for the majority of irregular migration to Greece.
The Coast Guard said that 33 men, a woman and ten children were found at the small harbour of Loutra on southern Crete, after crossing from eastern Libya in a small inflatable boat.
Another 35 people were located later Thursday off the island’s southern coast.
On Wednesday, 158 people reached Crete in four small boats.
