LONDON: Jordan dispatched a convoy of 20 relief trucks to Lebanon on Thursday as part of its efforts to support the country.

It was the ninth aid convoy organized by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the World Food Programme, and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.

Hussein Shibli, the JHCO’s secretary-general, said that the convoy, which was traveling through the Syrian Arab Republic, was addressing urgent humanitarian needs and supporting vulnerable communities in Lebanon, while enhancing living conditions and public health, according to the Jordan News Agency.

The conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah, which initially began in October 2023, has displaced more than 1 million people — mostly in southern Lebanon and the country’s capital Beirut — following Israeli attacks.
