The disgraced BBC presenter Huw Edwards is seeking subscribers for an “unflinchingly honest” Substack newsletter, a move that has left former colleagues “shocked.”
Once the corporation’s highest-paid journalist, Edwards pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children in 2024 and was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
After three years of silence, Edwards announced a “tentative” return to the public sphere by inviting readers to sign up for a new Substack newsletter.

Edwards, who was suspended by the BBC in 2023, said he would publish regular commentaries on issues ranging from politics and the media to his own “recent experiences” in the areas of “mental health, overcoming trauma”, the Crown Prosecution Service and the police.
