Suthamalli police have arrested three individuals for assaulting police personnel during a vehicle check near Nadukkallur petrol bunk on Wednesday night.According to police, Suthamalli police were engaged in a routine vehicle check, when an autorickshaw was noticed approaching at a high speed. The police stopped the vehicle for inspection.During the check, the driver M. Muruganantham, 26, from Kodaganallur appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. When police cautioned him that continuing to drive in such a condition could endanger lives, Muruganantham along with V. Prakash, 38, and a 17-year-old juvenile from Nadukkallur, who were in the autorickshaw pushed down the police officer, who was on duty and also threatened him with a weapon before attempting to flee from the spot.Acting swiftly, Suthamalli police immediately traced and arrested Muruganantham, Prakash and apprehended the 17-year old juvenile.A case has been registered and further investigations are under way.
