The Kottur police in Coimbatore district arrested a 49-year-old man from Madurai district on Thursday in connection with a house burglary and recovered 28 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹30,000 in cash.According to the police, R. Rushyendramani (61) had locked his house and gone to a temple with his family on May 22. During his absence, burglars allegedly broke open the doors of the house and stole the jewellery and cash kept in a bureau.Based on his complaint, the Kottur police registered a case and formed special teams to investigate the theft. The investigation led to the arrest of P. Sivaraj (49), a native of Madurai district. The stolen property was recovered from him, police said. The theft came to light when his family visited the cemetery on June 19 for the 16th-day rituals.Police said the accused were Nagaraj’s relative Sakthivel, Manikandan and Karthikeyan of Nagapattinam district.
