June 25 (UPI) -- DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation are developing three new animated series inspired by the worlds of DC comic books.
The studios announced at Annecy International Animation Festival that the shows Absolute Batman, Joker: Laugh Riot and Krypto are now in the works.
Absolute Batman, the hit 2024 comic series from writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta, reimagines Batman as a Bruce Wayne who grew up working class.
Snyder will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the adaptation, with Dragotta as producer.
Meanwhile, Joker: Laugh Riot will become DC Studios' first-ever anime series. Directed by Yasuhiro Aoki, an animator on ChaO and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, the show follows the Joker as he searches for Batman's killer, becoming more "vigilante than villain" along the way.
