An inquest at Bootle Town Hall heard that Parker was believed to have been involved in an altercation involving weapons that led to his death. Dutch authorities provided the provisional cause of death as a gunshot wound, and two men were arrested following a "shooting and stabbing incident" at a business premises. Local media reported that Parker was linked to the 2017 murders of Pieter Hoovers and his wife Tae in Amsterdam. Although never arrested for the 2017 murders, a cold-case team in 2024 identified a "British criminal" as the likely perpetrator; the inquest has been adjourned until 18 December.
