A firefighting helicopter ran into trouble while battling a blaze near Grevena in northern Greece on Thursday, with both crew members reported safe.
The Bell 214B helicopter, which had been leased by the Greek Fire Service, had taken off from Ioannina airport to join the aerial firefighting efforts in the Avgo area of the Valia Calda National Park.
According to reports, the aircraft ran into trouble during a water-scooping maneuver in the artificial lake of Aoos, on the border between Ioannina and Grevena.
The two-man crew consisted of a Greek pilot and a foreign national serving as a liaison officer. Both were rescued.
