—The index. The Ibovespa (IBOV) is Brazil’s benchmark stock index, tracking the most-traded shares on the B3 exchange in São Paulo.

—The level. In mid-2026 the Ibovespa trades near record highs, around 170,500 points.

—The exchange. B3 is one of the world’s largest exchanges, formed by the 2017 merger of BM&FBovespa and Cetip.

—The heavyweights. Miner Vale, oil major Petrobras and the big banks Itaú and Bradesco carry the most weight in the index.
