The Host Communities of Nigeria producing oil and gas has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate alleged plot by some unnamed oil cabals to frustrate the pipeline surveillance operation in the Niger Delta region.
This was contained in an open letter from HOSCON to the President dated June 20, 2026, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri.
The letter signed by the Chairman, HOSCON Traditional Rulers and Elders Advisory Council of Nigeria, His Majesty, Obukowho Monday Whiskey, Udurhie I, the Ovie of Idjerhe kingdom, attributed the alleged plot to intelligence reports obtained “from highly placed sources both in Abuja and across the Niger Delta”.
According to HOSCON, intelligence at its disposal “from highly placed sources both in Abuja and across the Niger Delta is that since the oil cabals can no longer have their way in stealing crude oil in the region, they have perfected a new approach by deliberately starving the authorities of the pipeline surveillance outfit of regular funding and thus creating unnecessary salaries delay and other operational activities being carried out in the day to day activities of the oil pipeline security giant”.
HOSCON noted that as a result, staff and subcontractors of the organisation have not been paid for almost four months running, “thereby causing grumbling and threats to down tools by workers”.
