Guwahati: At least five people went missing and around 20 houses damaged after flash floods, triggered by incessant rainfall over the past 48 hours, struck Arunachal Pradesh's Keyi Panyor district on Wednesday.The Assam government has issued a high alert and is closely monitoring the evolving situation following the extremely heavy rainfall and flash floods in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, which is expected to have an impact on several downstream districts of Assam.A senior official in Itanagar said continuous heavy rain triggered landslides at multiple locations. Road connectivity between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh was disrupted along National Highway 315(A). Landslides have taken place at multiple locations along the highway linking Joypur in Assam's Dibrugarh district with Deomali and Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district.Landslides have cut off the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway-37 in Manipur disrupting vehicular traffic.According to officials, five people were reportedly missing after flash floods swept through the Northeastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) project colony near Poosa under the Yazali circle of Keyi Panyor. A wall collapsed while floodwaters inundated several low-lying residential areas in Yazali circle.A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has already been deployed, while National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel are on their way to assist in the relief and rescue efforts. An official said an IAF chopper was used to airlift SDRF personnel with rescue equipment from Itanagar to Pitapool.
