It’s very clear from this latest Practical Magic 2 trailer that the film—which builds on the much-loved 1998 supernatural rom-com starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens, witchy sisters battling a cruel curse—is going to give fans everything they want. Midnight margaritas, lighting candles by blowing on them, tea spoons that stir by themselves, cats, sun-dappled shots of that iconic white house, floral-print dresses, roof jumps, sisterly banter, and… oh yeah, that damn “everyone you fall in love with dies” thing, back to haunt the next generation of witches. This latest trailer also gives us our best glimpse at the plot of Practical Magic 2; it’s apparent that Sally’s daughter, Kylie (Joey King), is going to fall for a guy played by Cobra Kai‘s Xolo Maridueña, who’s soon imperiled by the spell we thought Sally and Jillian vanquished in the first Practical Magic.
Desperate to save her boyfriend, Kylie—who has, apparently, somehow been sheltered from knowing about her family legacy up until this point—turns to dabbling in dangerous dark magic. We also see that Lee Pace‘s tattooed character is someone Sally and Gillian seek out for assistance, and good news for thirsty viewers: he will definitely spend at least a part of the movie in his birthday suit. And do we detect some sparks flying with Sally?
