Ugh/GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders go live tonight and we now know exactly what it will cost. However, what was supposed to be a momentous occasion, the most exciting game release in (almost) forever for millions of fans, has quickly become rife with (digital) controversy.

Not more than a few minutes after Rockstar officially announced the $80 list price on the standard edition and the $100 price on the Deluxe copy, we realized there was no new online at launch and news surfaced across the interwebs regarding the physical boxed copy – it’s literally just a box with a piece of paper in it so you can download the game you just paid $80 for.

Rockstar positioned the official news by suggesting this way physical copies of the game can be preloaded a week ahead of the November 19 release date, but this is largely to bring its overhead down on a game surely to sell 8 gazillion copies and, perhaps, to prevent early leaks.

Folks are not happy about this.
