According to him, the constraints occasionally impact policing operations, especially in rural communities, agrarian settlements and other hard-to-reach areas of the state.
The Enugu State Police Command has said inadequate personnel, logistics and operational assets have continued to hinder effective policing in parts of the state, particularly rural communities and difficult terrains.
Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa disclosed this on Wednesday while delivering a welcome address during the official visit of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the Enugu State Police Command headquarters in Enugu.
Giwa said the command has remained committed to protecting lives and property across the state but noted that manpower shortages, occasioned largely by transfers of personnel without replacement, as well as insufficient logistics and mobility resources, were affecting optimal deployment and operational coverage.
“Notwithstanding the progress recorded, the Command continues to face certain operational challenges, particularly in the areas of inadequate manpower shortages resulting mostly from individual personnel transfers without replacement, logistics, mobility, and personnel welfare,” the police commissioner said.
