Jerseys worn by Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter during two of the most significant moments in modern New York Yankees history will be sold this July in Sotheby’s Summer Sports Marquee auction. Bidding runs from July 1 to July 20 with pre-sale estimates of $3 million to $5 million for Judge’s MLB debut jersey and $500,000 to $700,000 for the shirt worn during Jeter’s historic “dive” play in 2004.Judge’s major league debut came at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 13, 2016. He and Tyler Austin hit back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning to become the first teammates to homer in the first at-bats of their major league debuts in the same game. Now a three-time American League MVP and seven-time All-Star with 385 career home runs, Judge is one of the top players in baseball, though he is currently on the injured list with a rib stress fracture.“Obviously he became an iconic Bronx Bomber and passed (Roger) Maris’ (single-season AL home run) record, he’s kind of known for being a home run hitter,” Brahm Wachter, head of modern collectibles at Sotheby’s, told The Athletic. “So we have a rookie debut jersey where he hits a home run, not just wore it for his first game. He actually did something important in it.”Aaron Judge’s rookie debut jersey. That figure has fallen far behind the highest amount paid for a Judge trading card, however, which is $5.2 million for his 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Pick Autographs one-of-one Superfractor in a private deal earlier this year.
