Samsung Electronics said it is considering plans for a share buyback, though details regarding the timing or size have yet to be confirmed.
The South Korean tech giant said in a regulatory filing Wednesday that a potential buyback would serve to fund its employee stock compensation tied to the company's 2026 performance. The plan is still under review and Samsung plans to make another disclosure within one month once details are finalized.
The clarification followed a report by local news agency Yonhap that Samsung was planning a share buyback program worth about 90 trillion won, equivalent to $58.71 billion.
Samsung declined to comment on the Yonhap report.
