According to Ejiofor, the country is now sitting on “a keg of gunpowder,” while many political leaders appear either unwilling or incapable of confronting the security challenges.

Human rights lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has berated Nigeria’s political class for focusing on the 2027 elections while terrorists and bandits continue to tighten their grip and conquer communities across the country.

Ejiofor warned that Nigerians must begin preparing for their survival amid worsening insecurity, saying that it has become obvious that Nigerian leaders and the political class are not willing to stop terrorism in the country.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ejiofor said repeated warnings about the escalating security crisis have gone largely unheeded, adding that many of the fears expressed over the years have now materialised.

“The relentless invasion of communities by jihadist terrorists and armed bandits did not occur without prior warnings,” the lawyer said.
