Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra on Wednesday offered help to an 80-year-old violinist whose video has gone viral on social media.Responding to the clip on X, Mahindra wrote, "I’d like to contribute, along with many others, who I know will be moved by his passion… The video didn’t seem to provide details of how & where."Mahindra was reacting to a viral video showing the elderly man playing a violin on a pavement.Sharing the video, an X user wrote, "Heartbreak and resilience on the streets. Eighty-year-old Bhagwan Mallick plays his 40-year-old broken violin on the pavement every day. Despite failing eyesight, he earns just Rs 100 to survive and support his wife. Music remains his only lifeline. His passion and dignity shine through extreme poverty."Several social media users praised Mahindra's gesture and called for broader efforts to support people facing hardship.One user suggested that business leaders create a structured and transparent support network to help vulnerable people with essentials such as meals and financial assistance.Another user wrote, "Really heartbreaking... but then there are millions of people like him in the world who need help in one way or another. I feel everyone should help at least one person like this, and the world will be a better place."A third user commented, "Dignity is doing what you can with what you have, even when life gives you every reason to quit. That is a strength few people truly understand."This is not the first time Anand Mahindra has stepped forward to help people in need.Earlier this month, he offered support to a young boy from Nainital whose videos of performing magic tricks on the streets went viral on social media.In 2024, Mahindra had pledged Rs 500 crore to Mahindra University in Hyderabad, marking one of his largest philanthropic commitments to education. The donation is more than ten times the Rs 48 crore (approximately $10 million at the 2010 valuation) that he pledged to Harvard University nearly 14 years ago.
