Strictly star Alexis Warr has announced her shock split from her husband of eight years as she reveals she will continue to be his "cheerleader"08:37, 24 Jun 2026Updated 08:40, 24 Jun 2026Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer, Alexis Warr, has announced that she has split from her husband of eight years Jake Burton.The 26-year-old American dancer tied the knot with Jake in 2018, after dating as childhood sweethearts and marrying when they were still in their teens.She apologised for being "MIA" but had a "personal update" for her followers as she told them: “After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate.“Whilst this hasn’t been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders.” Alexis added that the pair planned to navigate the rest of their “life change” in private.Burton, who is a dentist, also shared the same statement on his Instagram profile.Alexis joined the BBC show's line-up in 2025 year alongside fellow newcomer Julian Caillon. She hails from Utah in the US and was the first Latin and ballroom dancer to win So You Think You Can Dance at the end of its seventeenth season in 2022. At the time, she dedicated her win to her mother, who had been suffering from brain cancer before a 'miraculous recovery' came along.During her time on the show, she said: "Every week I’m here is another week that I get to make my mamma happy. My mum and dad sacrificed a lot for me to dance, specifically financially, because they saw something in me that I didn’t see. This journey has been a love letter to my mother, and I would love to seal that with a win."Before finding fame, Alexis worked as a dancer on America's Got Talent, she was quickly snapped up by Dancing With The Stars bosses, who installed her as a member of the resident dance troupe.While she did not dance with any celebrities during her stint on the show, she did perform alongside other professionals during a recent round of the competition. Alexis has had her own brush with global stars though, because, in 2024, she appeared in JoJo Siwa's music video for her hit track Karma.Since joining Strictly, Alexis has been paired with TikTok star George Clarke, with the pair finishing series 23 as runners up in 2025.Although she has kept her relationship with her husband under wraps, but in November she spoke out about how proud she was of her husband after he passed his dental exams.Article continues belowShe captioned the post at the time: "Proud wifey posttt.
