EASA issued an emergency directive to inspect 16 Airbus A380s after cracks were found in wing mid spars, potentially affecting structural integrity.

Fifteen of the aircraft are operated by Emirates, with inspections to begin within 48 hours and any required work completed before returning to service.

Five jets require immediate inspections; 11 must be checked within 25 flight cycles, with findings reported within seven days and repairs directed by Airbus.

Emirates runs the world’s largest A380 fleet with 116 aircraft, representing more than half of all active superjumbos.
