'If she didn't want to marry, she could've simply refused': Ketan Agarwal's fatherPUNE: Days after police alleged that Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal was pushed to his death from Lohagad Fort by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary, his grieving parents have spoken publicly, questioning why their son had to die if she no longer wanted to marry him.Calling for a fast-track trial, the family said they had welcomed Goyal into their home, trusted her completely and never imagined the relationship would end in such a tragedy.Speaking after a Pune court remanded Goyal and Chaudhary to police custody till June 29, Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, said the couple got engaged in February after the families agreed to the marriage."They (Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal) got engaged in February... They were leaving for Bali on the 6th. Four people were travelling to Bali together, but only Ketan's passport got stolen. Because of that, he couldn't go and had to return from the airport," he said.Questioning the motive behind the alleged crime, Vishal Agarwal said, "If she didn't want to get married, she could have simply refused; we would have cancelled the wedding immediately. Why did they decide to take such a drastic step? What kind of mindset do they have? Their mindset is so cruel that someone's 26-year-old son could be killed... Society needs to take note of such a cruel mindset. Where does this ideology come from, their family, their upbringing?"Recalling how the marriage was fixed, he said the Agarwal family had initially declined the proposal because Goyal was only 20 years old. However, after repeated requests from her family, they eventually agreed to the alliance. The couple got engaged in February, and Goyal became a frequent visitor to their home."We had known Goyal's family for 35-40 years. We never imagined something like this could happen," he said."All along, we trusted her. We never doubted anything," he added.Referring to the incident at Lohagad Fort, he said, "Chetan Chaudhary arrived at the Lohagad Fort on a two-wheeler... The two (Chetan Chaudhary and Siya Goyal) went up together, hit Ketan Vishal Agarwal with an object, and threw him down from the top."The greiving father also praised Pune Rural Police for cracking the case swiftly."The police were helpful and resolved the case very quickly. The local Rural SP, Sandeep Singh Gill, provided exceptional support; he immediately shared the details with us and arrested both individuals. Chetan Chaudhary was arrested last night, and Siya was arrested this morning. They are now being produced in court," he said.Ketan's mother said that Siya Goyal had "lied and betrayed her.""My son is no more. Siya and her boyfriend are entirely responsible for it. She (Siya) betrayed me and lied... There was nothing suspicious; we didn't have a single doubt. I met her many times, and we went shopping and out for dinner together frequently, yet it never crossed our minds that she could be this kind of person... I demand the death penalty for those involved in the incident," she said.Police have alleged that Goyal and Chaudhary conspired to kill Ketan during a visit to Lohagad Fort after initially portraying his death as an accidental fall. Further investigation is underway.
